Election statement of Paolo Ramazzotti - Nomination of Ordinary Member of the EAEPE Council

I am a long-time member of EAEPE and have been in the Council during the past two years. My intention is to actively pursue an increase in membership and to favor its continuity. To succeed, the Council must improve participation in the life of the association. This requires action both at the scientific and organizational levels.

Scientifically, EAEPE should remain a pluralistic forum enhancing dialogue among all heterodox views and providing yound scholars with a stimulating environment. I believe this goal should prevail over the desire to establish a dialogu with open-minded orthodox scholars, especially because other places/organizations may allow for that.

Organizationally, EAEPE should avoid excessive internal fragmentation among Research Areas, which would turn it into a pigeonhole where anything goes. Confrences should provide the opportunity to deal with a general theme from differente perspectives rather than reflect the scietific interests of the organizers alone. This goal, which was generally achieved in the past, requires greater commitment.

Membership meetings should provide members with the information they need to adequtely assess the Council's actions. Accountability and open discussion should prevail over synthesis and haste.
